Jorge Drexler at Sodré

Hey everyone!
Ronnie, his mom, and I went to a Jorge Drexler concert last night at the Sodré concert hall. Jorge Drexler is a jewish Uruguayan musician, who actually won an Oscar in 2004 for a song called "Al Otro Lado del Río" from The Motorcylce Diaries soundtrack. I would lightly compare him to a spanish version of Sufjan Stevens, but in this concert many of his songs were more experimental than his usual acoustic and gentle voice. He also performed tracks from his newest album, Amar La Trauma, which I had been listening to in preparation for the show! I'd say I knew about 60% of the songs he played, but they were all enjoyable. All ages and types of people were represented, and the crowd often joined in the singing with gusto! We had an excellent time! These are some pictures from the show:
(Top) The first is the recently rebuilt Sodré interior. The original Hall burned down, but now the building is very modern and elegant.
-The second is of Ronnie and his Mom before the show.
-The next three were taken during the performance. Jorge seemed to be a very nice guy. He was able to improvise with wit, and it was obvious that he and the band were like brothers.

This is the link for his official site: Jorge Drexler

Below are some video snippets I took during the show. (If they are not up, they should be by this evening.) Enjoy!

Here is a clip of "Cerca Del Mar" (Near the Sea):

Here is a happy song:

Here is one of the more experimental song, perhaps influenced by candombe. I like it better toward the middle:
